First Night Boston 2016
The new year is quickly approaching and Boston is preparing for its annual New Year’s Eve celebration! There are an endless number of ways you can celebrate the new year in Boston, but we’ve compiled a list of Boston’s biggest New Year’s Eve celebrations for you to check out!
All major & free activities will take place in three places in the city: Copley Square, Boston Common, and Boston Harbor.
– Fireworks show over Boston Harbor at midnight
– The ‘Celebrate Boston Parade’ on Boylston St.
– Ice sculptures, art performances, and light shows in Copley Square
-Ice skating on the Boston Common Frog Pond
-Countdown to midnight in Copley Square
For family friendly activities, check out the Boston Children’s Museum, the Old State House, and the Old South Meeting House which offer free admission between 10:00am and noon. Most first night activities for children will be held at the Hynes Convention Center and Prudential Center–keep your eye out for puppets, acrobats, music, jugglers, story tellers, and crafts!
If you’re looking for a great place to watch the fireworks, try anywhere along the waterfront like Downtown, South Boston, the North End, Charlestown, or East Boston. If you want to get close to the action, buy a ticket for the New Year’s Eve dinner cruise aboard the Odyssey or Spirit of Boston departing from Rowes Wharf and the Seaport District.
From all of us here at Flats on D, Happy New Year!
